Oh and she's married to Ripper Street hottie Matthew Macfadyen.

I'm totally on board for her being a Who villain.

Now if only the series would get started. It seems like forever since there was more than one episode on the telly for months at a time!

Now if only those rumors about Tom Hiddleston were true.

Say Hello To The Twelfth Doctor!

Dear Whovians,

They have announced the 12th Doctor and already some of you are threatening not to watch because the new actor isn't young and hot.

Just an FYI to you, that isn't what the show is about.

Plus if you do a little googling, you will see the Doctor has been portrayed by actors of varying age ranges over the last 50 years.

Oh and 55 is not that old.

And while I'm at it, I think the choice of actors is rather attractive for his age, and he was so awesome in The Fires of Pompeii.

So please, before you start dissing the actor, wait until he gets into the role. He hasn't even shot his first scenes yet!

I wasn't excited at Matt's casting and yet I've come to love him as much as the other actors that came before him...and yes, even as much as the Sainted David Tennant...the Lord of all Time Lords.

So please, take a chill pill, and wait...

You will probably be pleasantly surprised...

The Next Doctor!

Well it seems like the BBC is ready to tell us who Doctor 12 is going to be. Nice folks that they are (Har har har) they are going to simulcast the special with the announcement on BBC America. So for the Brits..that's 7 p.m. for those of us on the east coast that's 2 pm.

They are going to air the 50th anniversary special the same way.

I'm fine with it for the announcement, but I don't know how I feel about watching a brand new Doctor Who episode at 3 pm.

That just doesn't feel right.

I guess I'll deal with it when it gets here...

But...whoo hooo...only a few more days until we know who 12 is!

The Sixth Doctor and Why You Should Love Him

Colin Baker's Sixth Doctor is a whole lot more awesome than some people would like you to believe.

Here are some reasons why you should love this guy.

1. The totally insane outfit. Very eye catching...or rather very painful on the eyes and yet it is fun.

2. He's a fighter. To those that think that The Doctor is all peace and harmony..well they missed Colin Baker's tenure, because he really kicked some ass.

3. Crazy companions...Peri and her rather revealing costumes and Mel and her carrot juice. Poor guy...can't win.

4. For all the fangirls out there, Colin was actually kinda cute in that Greatest American Hero kinda way.

5. There were some really great episodes..The Trial Of A Time Lord and Timelash

Those are five good reasons..now go give The Sixth Doctor some love!

Random Thoughts About Doctor Who

Since things are changing in Doctor Who world, this Whovian wants to ponder some things about the show and the fandom.

~ Why is there such an extreme need for The Doctor to be all kissy kissy with the companions now? I know it is a thing that didn't happen in the early series, but after the movie and reboot, he's sucking face with everyone, Rory included! (Now that was an interesting visual)

~ Companions: Such hatred focused at so many and such love for others. Yikes! I'm not a fan of Rose Tyler myself or Martha, but they were both pretty good in their parts. I really like companions that don't seem to fall in love with The Doctor. Donna/Amy. I think Clara will be an interesting addition to the show, but I refuse to say who is better than the other. That has to do with chemistry between the actors and how well the scripts are written.

~ OMG will the Cybermen never leave? While I'm at it, hasn't The Doctor rid the Universe of Daleks yet? Where do they keep coming from?

~ Weeping Angels = Not scary anymore.

~ 11th Doctor: I never thought I'd love Matt, but after the emo Doctor that was David Tennant (Who I adored mind you), it is nice to see his Doctor being a bit more carefree, until the loss of The Ponds.

~ Adipose = BRING THEM BACK!

~ The Ood: Why are they classified as villains, they aren't really. I love The Ood.

~ Hate having to wait til April for new episodes

Doctor Who In Review: The Snowmen

The Snowmen marks the first companion change since David Tennant left the show.

For the most part viewers are used to different companions for the Christmas specials. It changes things up nicely.

To avoid being to "Spoilery" but to give you a hint of what's going on...we meet Souffle Girl again. Or is it Souffle Girl?

She keeps turning up!

Clara is her name this time round, and she's fiesty and fun.

But more fun then Clara are the Doctor's alien companions, a Sontaran butler Strax and Madame Vastra, a Silurian, who has a human wife, Jenny Flint.

Some of the best moments in the show involve Strax. I have to admit The Doctor doesn't treat him very well, calling him some choice names here and there.

What was nice about this episode involved setting the stage for the coming season. It was none too scary, but rather amusing. It ranks up there with episodes like "Vincent and The Doctor" and "The Unicorn & The Wasp." (Though there aren't any historical characters in this episode)

I always love when The Doctor ends up on Earth in the past, those always seem to be the best episodes. Add the Christmas element and you have good telly for the holiday.

The Snowmen, which are part of the villainy of the episode aren't very scary, but like The Weeping Angels, they'll have you looking at snow creatures in a different fashion from now on.

The episode is solid.

It is fun.

It is Christmasy.

The Doctor is not happy, most likely as a result of the fate of The Ponds, which leaves him a rather unwilling participant in this special.

Moody emo Doctor is not fun and the episodes where this is prevalent usually suffer for it, I'd say that's the case here too. It is a good thing the other characters provide most of the fun in this one.

The ending however will leave all Whovians anxiously awaiting the shows return in April. Moffat is good for those cliffhangers.

Doctor Who In Review: The Angels Take Manhattan

The midseason finale of Doctor Who is everything the other episodes in this season weren't and that's good.

This was everything that Doctor Who should be.

It kept you on the edge of you seat with your heart racing.

It also was "The Ponds" last episode.

Now, I know many people didn't like these companions, though I'm not sure why? Maybe it is because everyone wants The Doctor to have a companion that's more a girlfriend than a traveling companion. Whatever the reason, for me, I loved The Ponds and I loved Donna Noble, because they weren't all madly in love with The Doctor. They loved him, but they didn't want to sleep with him.

That said, I loved Amy and Rory's love for each other. It stood the test of time, many times.

I still loved Rory more than Amy, but I'm a girl...and hey, it was nice to see The Doctor with a male companion that wasn't

1. An idiot

2. Gay.

Not that I minded Captain Jack...I loved him and I miss him an Ianto like crazy...but its the "I want to bed The Doctor" thing that annoyed me with the previous seasons be it Rose, Martha or Jack Harkness.

Oh and note to the writers Rory was a freakin' nurse, he couldn't be that much of an idiot. I don't know why they talked down his profession in the show. Its a rather important job. (I don't know about the UK but in the US it is a pretty good paying job and hard work)

But back to the episode. I loved River in this one...she felt more likable than she was before. I also like that she said she would travel with him again, but the Tardis only needs 1 psychopath inside it! So maybe that Pond will be back again sometime. She is the Doctor's wife after all.

The Angels returned to their super scary bad ass selves in this one...And OMG baby Weeping Angels!!! Scarier than the big ones.

I'm seriously not going to any cemeteries in the near future!

I'm not going to give any spoilers for the end. (At least not directly)

But I am going to say this....Mr. Moffat you are a cruel and heartless man and I think I don't like you anymore. I may, in fact, like Uncle Rusty a bit better after this one...and now...like The Doctor..I hate ENDINGS!

Doctor Who In Review: Power Of Three

Last night's episode gave us a glimpse of The Doctor dealing with Pond Life and an alien invasion of the most boring kind.

It didn't really make for a super exciting episode, but  it did help set the scene for The Ponds departure which is really sad.

I think they are possibly the first companions that you see really consider leaving The Doctor at least in this way and you see how they manage their time with The Doctor and at home. More so than with the other companions in the new series, you got the idea of how long they were gone when they were living "Doctor Life."

To me the episode was dull, because the boxes took so long before they actually did something. I was almost as bored as the Doctor on a few occasions. (I think I might have nodded off 20 minutes in for a few)

Overall this episode is just another disappointment for me. There are three great actors and they are being utilized so poorly.

Oh and story arc? This one is so bleh....

Doctor Who In Review: A Town Called Mercy

Episode three of Series 7 is A Town Called Mercy. After last week's episode, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was frankly very depressed with Dinosaurs On A Spaceship.

This episode was pretty depressing too, but it did give us some insight on The Doctor.

He's 1200 years old now. Dang! I wonder what year it really is on Earth!

For the most part, I enjoyed the Wild West plot and I liked Jax and the comparisons they make between him and The Doctor. They are very much alike, even in the crimes that Jax committed. I also like seeing the Doctor as more flawed, losing patience and ready to make sacrifices that you normally wouldn't see from him. I like that Amy brings out the good that's in him.

Again, I found too much death in this episode, and seeing The Doctor with a gun, wasn't right before and it still doesn't feel right now. It isn't who he is.

The ending was nice, better than Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.

So far, this series has had too much drama and not enough fun for me. The Doctor is getting to be a bit too serious and I think that is a bad thing. Matt Smith certainly could carry some more comic scripts and lord knows there needs to be something more amusing here...if we're going to recycle not to great aliens, why not bring back the adipose, at least they were cute!

Doctor Who In Review: Dinosaurs On A Spaceship

Episode 2 in the new series of Doctor Who is Dinosaurs On A Spaceship. It features Nefertiti and Riddel along with Amy, Rory and Rory's Dad.

This episode puts me on the fence. I liked it up to a point but then something happened that spoiled.

I'm probably the only person who can be turned off an episode because of one scene, but that happened to me here.

I was really enjoying this one, because it wasn't about evil aliens, though the plot reminded me a bit of Voyage of The Damned in some ways. I get tired of the same old same old. How many times can the Doctor defeat the Daleks, The Cybermen and The Weeping Angels?

What bothered me so much?

It involved the Triceratops.

That truly pissed me off and put me off the entire episode. I also didn't like the foreshadowing of what may happen to at least one of the Ponds.

I like that they know that their time with the Doctor is coming to an end..but the thought of either of them dying, (in Rory's case, AGAIN) well it just breaks my heart. I really feel attached to these two as companions.

There were things that I did like about this episode. The dinosaur for one...until that moment! Grrr. I loved Nefertiti! She was badass! And Rory's dad really helped you fall in love more with Rory.

Doctor Who In Review: Asylum Of The Daleks

Asylum of the Daleks was a pretty great way to bring back The Doctor after a long absence. Sept 1 from Christmas 2011 is a pretty long wait.

Daleks are the best alien to have The Doctor face. His oldest and most fierce enemy.

And they trick him.

Hmmmm

But first, for those of you that haven't watched, I suggest you go to Youtube and watch the 5 minute clips of Pond Life, because that will help part of the Amy/Rory story make sense to you.

So now without giving away too much in regards to spoilers, for anyone that hasn't had a chance to watch.

Let's talk about the Daleks.

1. The Daleks that ship The Doctor/Amy/Rory off to the Asylum look like candy! Chocolate covered marshmallow Daleks! Tasty!

2. The Daleks weren't as kick assy as they usually are. I find it odd that a character that is so evil only gets a one episode story for 11, but when it was Tennant's Doctor they took up 2 and 3 episodes.

3. I loved how the dead Dalek's came back to life.

Now onto other things.

1. New companion is seen, though we aren't quite sure if it is going to be her as she is now...or if some timey wimey business will occur.

2. Amy and Rory seem to have taken on a life of their own. The Pond Life stuff really made me wish they had a show of their own, because they are so darn sweet together, plus Arthur Darvill rocks my world.

3. OMG all those Daleks. Nightmare time!

4. When did Dalek's start assimilating people like the Cybermen and erm..the Borgs on Trek?

5. Making them forget was awesome..I wonder if that will play a part in the series down the road.

6. I love the repetition of Doctor Who that we've been seeing in so many of the episodes.

Overall, I thought it was a strong episode. Lots of emotional drama for The Ponds. The Dalek's could have been more menacing, but still a good way to bring the show back! I have to say I love Matt Smith's Doctor, especially as the companions aren't trying to hump his leg at every turn like Rose Tyler.

So Long Sarah Jane Smith

Elisabeth Sladen the actress best known for portraying Sarah Jane Smith, companion to Doctor Who has passed away. She had been battling cancer for a long time.

I can't remember when I last felt so bad about a celebrity death. I love Doctor Who and Sarah's character has always been one of my favorites on the show. I especially loved her new series The Sarah Jane Adventures.

She was such a beautiful and talented lady.

Every Thing About Series 5 Is Better

Series 5 of the New Doctor Who, which really isn't new, since they've already done 5 series and a year of specials, is probably one of the best.

I haven't decided what it was about this season that made it stand out above all the rest yet, but it does.

Maybe it is because Matt Smith is damn good in the part. He brings quirky back. He's not emo. He's sexy, but not in that OMGIWANTTOHUMPHISLEG way that David Tennant was.

Maybe it is the companions, Rory and Amy are probably the two strongest companions the series has seen. Rory is definitely the best male companion, and Amy ranks just a notch below Donna Noble in my eyes.

Maybe it is the writing, because this is the first season that didn't have any really horrible epis and the finale kicked some serious ass, something it has never done before.

Now the series is taking it up a notch by giving us an awesome DVD cover. Yes it was one of the promo shots from the series, but damn it is more fun than any of the ones they used before.

And would someone please explain to me why I suddenly think Matt Smith is the sexiest thing on the planet. Mr. Tennant is going to get mad at me.

Sometimes Doctor Who Baffles Me

I've been watching Who as it airs in the UK, so apologies if I spoil things for those of you in the US that are watching the episodes that are cut to ribbons by BBC America.

In the last Weeping Angels epi, Amy Pond goes all leg humpy on The Doctor, for no good reason.

I realize that the New Who Crew likes to have a romantic element in the show but it should at least make sense. I know it makes it easier for them to work Rory back into the show, which leads me to another gripe which started back with Rose. Why do the female companions have to have wishy washy boyfriends that have to become companions of the sort later on?

Its very easy to fall in love with the Doctor. No matter what face he has, there's something romantic about the time and space travel that will make women go all leg humpy, but why can't the companions be strong single women? That's why in recent years, Donna Noble is the companion I liked most. When she found The Doctor, she wasn't involved and she was ready to go with him.

Much the same can be said for Amy Pond, but they had to give her a love interest so they could work more companions in the show. I'll at least give Rory credit, he's not stupid, he's just not a go getter like Amy.

The only thing that could be worse than the wussy boyfriend companion woudl be two female companions...cos then it would turn into a Who orgy...all that leg humping. Mind you, I wouldn't mind humping the leg of any of the last 4 Doctors, but that's another story altogether.

Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor

Matt Smith is not David Tennant. He's not drop dead gorgeous. He's not crazy assed emo and he's not wearing a pin stripe suit.

All that aside, Matt Smith "IS" the Doctor. He stepped into the role that David Tennant exited in January with ease. He still has a quirky sense of humor and he still has an affinity for female companions it seems, but from the looks of it, Amy Pond, probably isn't going to be humping his leg right away in this series.

I won't give any spoilers to "The Eleventh Hour." You'll just have to watch, but I will say, Stephen Moffat has given the show new life. He's taken the "emo" out of the show and for that, I applaud. 10 wasted a season with an awesome companion being whiny about Rose Tyler. I'm glad that Rose is sufficiently gone. I hope that Amy stays with him throughout his tenure as the doctor, as did many of the companions in the "Classic" series.

Karen Gillian, who appeared in The Fires Of Pompeii, is a great companion. She's not besotted with "The Doctor," at least not yet, and hopefully not ever. She's actually a bit annoyed with him at times and that makes for some good laughs. Her boyfriend Rory Williams was a bit amusing and I'm sure will be used in a few episodes, much like Mickey was with "Rose".

All in all, I was pleasantly surprised at how well all the new actors fit into the show, but then again, The Doctor is a chameleon. Yes, David Tennant, is my doctor, but Matt Smith is now "the" doctor, and I think he's going to do a damn good job in the part.

The Waters Of Mars

The Waters Of Mars

I haven't been impressed with a Doctor Who special so far this past year. In fact, up until this point I've been totally disappointed by the episodes leading up to David Tennant's departure as the Doctor which is coming sometime between Christmas and New Year's.

That said. The Waters Of Mars left me both breathless and angry. Breathless because it was probably the most fast paced well written episode of Who that I've seen in a long time. This episode was excellent. I didn't want to take my eyes from the 2 inch screen that I was watching it on. Yes, people, I watched this episode on my Zen Vision. Angry, because I didn't like what he was doing to the Doctor personality wise.

Without giving away much of the episode, as it won't air in the US until Dec 19th, I can tell you that the story is one of the best, even though at first I wasn't impressed. It felt a bit like "42" for awhile which was one of my least favorite episodes with Martha, but very soon it took on a life of its own.

In the last 15 minutes of the episode, you get a lot of foreshadowing of what's to come. Including a bit of madness on the part of the doctor. There's a visit and a song by a former Who alien too.

The only thing I didn't like was how Uncle Rusty seemed to be doing to Ten what he did with Captain Jack in Torchwood. I feel that when the End Of Time epis conclude everyone will be waiting for Matt Smith to become the doctor, because Rusty was making it hard to like Tennant's Doctor as The Waters Of Mars came to a finish.

He didn't feel like the doctor that showed up on Mars saying his intentions were fun.

I know that when I see the last episodes, I'll cry, because even though Who has been in my life for quite a long time, Tennant was MY DOCTOR! He will always be my doctor, and I will miss him terribly in that part.

Matt, you have some big shoes to fill. I hope you're worthy of the role you've taken on.

The Waters Of Mars...it was breathtakingly sad and as much as I hate to give that bastard RTD credit, it was fucking brilliant.
