My Final Twilight Rant

I absolutely hate the whole Twilight franchise. The first two books drove me insane. I never got around to Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, and I don't know that I ever will.

I tried to read the books with an open mind, because I really can't understand why women my age (late thirties) and older get their panties all in a bunch about this series.

The writing is mediocre if best. (Serious, the gals writing for Harlequin Nocturne do so much better) The characters are annoying.

I could go on, but I won't.

I want to rant about the movies.

I've not seen them, because they scare me. Not in a frightened kind of way but in an OMG how did they cast these people kind of way.

What do people see in Robert Pattinson..and more so, Kristen Stewart...and while I'm at it, what did those two see in each other?

She's so meh...

And he's just not what I pictured Edward to look like when I read the first two books.

Of course, he's not as awful a casting as say Tom Cruise as Lestat. That was the worst. To this day I refuse to watch that film because of it.

I hate Tom Cruise.

The only good thing about Breaking Dawn Part 2 coming out, is that I hopefully won't have to hear much more about these books and maybe the two stars will fade into obscurity, as they are both pretty lousy actors/actresses

Bye Bye Twilight. I won't miss you!

MTV Movie Awards

It's that time of year again for MTV to pretend it's awards mean something and honor the year's best movies.

Wait, best movies? That can't be right. Not when Twilight is in the running for a ton, and not in the fun, Razzie way.

Here's how things should be: Inception should win everything, with some exceptions for Kick Ass, because that was a seriously solid film. I can't speak for much else, since I didn't see much else, but I'm going to guess the few nominations for critically acclaimed movies like Blue Valentine deserve to win the most but most of MTV's audience won't have any clue about them because they'll have been too busy watching Jersey Shore, Teen Mom, and Skins. Note: I too watch Teen Mom and I watched the original British Skins, but couldn't take much of the poorly acted, dramatic, and stereotype-ridden American one.

But here's how things will be: Twilight will win everything, with a few exceptions for Harry Potter, and Harry Potter wins will probably be deserved, not to mention contribute to my new job as Harry Potter Examiner. In the rare case Twilight loses to something that's not Harry Potter, the fangirls will riot and talk about what a travesty it is, since Robert Pattinson is so totally hot and Twilight is the greatest book of all time (which it is, if you like bad writing, weak plot points that don't make sense, terrible characters, and dependent relationships).

So save America and vote for some worthwhile movies.

Robert Pattinson Cousin Of Dracula

There are some things that really make me shake my head. This is one of them. I logged into my home page and this was the article in one of the headlines

Robert Pattinson and Dracula are distant relatives

Genealogists actually spent time researching his family tree to discover he was related VERY DISTANTLY to Vlad The Impaler.

I'm sure Vlad would be thrilled to know that this half-assed actor who plays a freaking sparkly vampire to make his millions is somewhat related.

He'd probably bite his neck and have done with it. You know how creatures of the night should act.

I really wish Robert would have done some major acting before this film, because I don't know that I could ever look at him and not think of him as Edward from the books that dislike almost as much as I dislike V. C. Andrews.

Oh and not to worry, Stephanie Meyer is related too. I'm pretty sure there's something incestuous about all of this!

Do people have anything better to do with their time?

I wonder if Tom Cruise is related as well, after all he played Lestat (albeit badly), but at least that was a REAL vampire and not any of that sparkly crap.
