Strike It Rich!
by Gretchen Archer

DEATH IN PERSPECTIVE by Larissa ReinhartIs Lady Luck on Her Side?

It's a safe bet that you'll love Gretchen Archer's DOUBLE STRIKE! Davis Way is back with a vengeance (and a Twitter account) in her third hilarious Crime Caper. Get your copy October 21! #WinBig!

Bellissimo Resort and Casino Super Spy Davis Way knows three things: Cooking isn't a prerequisite for a happy marriage, don't trust men who look like David Hasselhoff, and money doesn't grow on Christmas trees. None of which help when a storm hits the Gulf a week before the most anticipated event in Bellissimo history: the Strike It Rich Sweepstakes. Securing the guests, staff, and property might take a stray bullet. Or two.
Davis Way has three problems: She's desperate to change her marital status, she has a new boss who speaks in hashtags, and Bianca Sanders has confiscated her clothes. All of which bring on a headache hot enough to spark a fire. Solving her problems means stealing a car. From a dingbat lawyer.

Davis Way has three goals:  Keep the Sanders family out of prison, regain her footing in her relationship, and find the genius who wrote the software for futureGaming. One of which, the manhunt one, is iffy. Because when Alabama hides someone, they hide them good.

DOUBLE STRIKE. A VIP invite to an extraordinary high-stakes gaming event, as thieves, feds, dance instructors, shady bankers, kidnappers, and gold waiters go all in. #Don'tMissIt

Homemade Waffles

This morning I wanted to make something special for breakfast, as it was Father's Day and likely the last one I'll have with my dad.

I found an old NordicWare waffle iron awhile back in one of our cupboards and wanted to try it. Well, after I took a good look at our Belgian waffle iron, and decided that that little puppy needed to make its way to the trash.

So I searched the internet for recipes and found this one which I adapted just a little bit.

Ingredients: 1 3/4 cups flour
1 TBS baking powder
1 TBS sugar
1/2 tsp salt
3 large eggs
1 stick butter (melted)
1 1/2 cups milk
1 tsp vanilla
1. Place dry ingredients in a bowl and mix
2. In a separate bowl, place eggs and milk, wisk together until blended
3. Add melted butter and egg/milk mixture to the dry ingredients and mix with a wire wisk just until blended

Now for how to use stove top waffle iron

Heat the waffle iron about a minute or two on both sides. The temp gauge should say bake.
Spray with butter spray
pour about a ladle and a half of batter into the iron and close cook on one side for about 45 seconds and flip. I flip about 3-4 times until both sides are similarly golden. Then remove with a fork and top with your favorite toppings

I actually found using this iron to be easier than the electric variety, and much easier to clean.

Picante Omelet Pie

If you are looking for a quick easy dish for any meal of the day, this one is absolutely delicious!

Its 5 simple ingredients and when it comes out of the oven it is yummy.

6 eggs
1/2 cup picante sauce
2 cups of the cheese of your choice the original recipe called for 1 cup Monterrey Jack and 1 cup Cheddar, but I like 2 cups of either Mexican or Taco cheese blend
1 cup sour cream.

Heat oven to 375
Pour picante sauce over a grease 10 inch pie plate
Top with cheese and set aside.
In a blender or food processor, combine the eggs and sour cream and blend until smooth.
Pour over sauce and cheese and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean.

I made this today and there are no leftovers at all!
